Drawing Tutorial 014 - Drawing male figure(part 2)

Last week we have studied the male figure in three quarter standing. This week we will see the figure straight facing us.

1.Lets review the standard proportion-

height - 7 and 1/2 of head
Nipple - 2 head
Naval - 3 and 1/4 of head
Crotch - Middle point(3 and 3/4th of head. here we have drawn at 4 head)
knee - 5 and 1/2 head
Ankle - 7 and 1/3 head
Body width - 2 head(wide)
2. We have drawn arms and hands so far more or less as long rectangles. However, the arm at shoulder joint(deltoid) is wider and bicep is narrower(when non pumped up as is our case). The hand is wider just below elbow and becomes narrow towards wrist. The wrist is just below crotch and tip of finger is just above knee.
Legs starting from hip is narrow at knee. But observe the shape. Its not getting narrower straightway. Its little bulging in the middle of thigh. Similar with the leg. At calf area the leg is wider and then it gets narrower as it approaches knee. We can see in more details the shapes in our later tutorials.

3. The torso is rectangular for normal male but for athletic and fit male with little to no fat, it is wider at shoulder and narrow at waist. Agait it widens upto hip. The abdomen portion(beside naval) is fixed width. The upper portion of torso is hidden under arm. the hand touches the hip portion. But as the waist is narrower, there is gap between hand and waist.

4. Most the proportions and sketches for the figure has been done. We are yet to add the facial elements (which are not so significant in our case).

5. A little more shading and we are done.
